The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers has standardized GoPro’s CineForm Codec as the SMPTE ST 2073 VC-5 video compression standard. VC-5 will deliver an eight-times performance boost over current JPEG 2000 compression with higher resolution, says GoPro. The new standard is available on the SMPTE website.
