
The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers today announced the winners of its 2017 awards, which will be presented Oct. 26 at the annual SMPTE Awards Gala as part of the SMPTE 2017 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition in Hollywood, Calif.
The award recipients include:
- Paul E. Debevec: the 2017 Progress Medal
- David S. Corley: Camera Origination and Imaging Medal
- Phillip Bennett: David Sarnoff Medal
- Michael A. Isnardi: Digital Processing Medal
- James M. Reilly: James A. Lindner Archival Technology Medal
- Mark Robert Gander: Samuel L. Warner Memorial Medal
- Joseph Goldstone, Technicolor –Herbert T. Kalmus Medal
- Randy Ubillos: Workflow Systems Medal
- Sean T. McCarthy: SMPTE Journal Award
- Katy C. Noland: Journal Certificate of Merit
- David Long and Mark D. Fairchild: Journal Certificate of Merit
- Elizabeth DoVale: Student Paper Award
- Jonathan Bouchard: Student Paper Honorable Mention
- Mark Schubin: Presidential Proclamation
- Johann Safar: Excellence in Standards Award
- Elizabeth “Betty” Migliore: Society Citation
- Merrick Ackermans: Citation for Outstanding Service to the Society
- Herbert Jay Dunmore: Citation for Outstanding Service to the Society

The society also will induct Renville “Ren” H. McMann Jr. posthumously into the SMPTE Honor Roll.
