Steve Brown of Robbinsdale, Minn., and Tony Peterle, CPBE, of Miami, are this year’s recipients of the Society of Broadcast Engineers’ highest honors: the Robert W. Flanders SBE Engineer of the Year and the James C. Wulliman SBE Educator of the Year, respectively.
Brown is a former SBC Chapter 17 chairman and former member of the SBE National Board of Directors. After more than 40 years as a broadcast engineer, Brown has retired.
Peterle, a member of SBE Chapter 53 and technical support manager at WorldCast Systems, has taught engineers nationwide about SNMP at SBE University, Ennes worshops and SBE webinars.
IMT-Vislink and John Payne have been honored with the 2017 SBE Technology Award for Newsnet, a next-generation wireless ecosystem to establish a two-way IP network with ENG crews in the field via 2GHz BAS links.
James Dalke has been honored with the SBE award for the Best Technical Article, Book or Program by an SBE Member for his presentation “Using Satellite VSATs for Broadcast STL” delivered at the 2017 NAB BEITC.
