Russia’s NTV National Federal TV Channel has selected multiple television cameras and a production switcher from Grass Valley for its 24-hour daily news programming.
The equipment, which includes 30 Grass Valley LDX 80 Flex cameras and a Karrera K-Frame S-series 3 M/E video production center switcher, is part of a larger plan to transition from SD to HD production to attract more viewers and advertisers, the company said.
According to Grass Valley, the major benefits of selecting the gear was to allow NTV to: reuse its existing triax infrastructure to integrate an HD production workflow; reduce distracting artifacts on LED panels in NTV’s studios as a result of the LDX Flex’ low noise filters; and eliminate the need to train directors and operators on Karrera because they already were quite familiar with it.
Grass Valley worked with local integrator OKNO-TV on the project.
