The Advanced Television Systems Committee today issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking input from industry experts on four areas that impact the experience of consumers when viewing and interacting with ATSC 3.0 content as well as ensuring interoperability between content that’s broadcast and receivers.
Specifically, the RFI is looking for experts in coding, transmission and reception; data and metadata; interactivity; and security.
The ATSC RFI covers test suites, test automation, version management, test result formats and administration.
In a press release announcing the RFI, Mark Richer, ATSC president, says he expects stations to begin testing in earnest in 2017 and early deployments in U.S. television markets in 2018.
More information is available on the ATSC website. The full RFI is available here.
