Patrick Butler, president and CEO of America’s Public Television Stations, this week posted a strong endorsement of the ATSC 3.0 standard and the new opportunities it will create for broadcasters in an article at Current online.

The piece, “ATSC spells progress for television,” does an excellent job of summing up what the next-gen TV standard is all about, where things stand in the FCC approval process and how public and commercial broadcasters will benefit.

Butler leaves no doubt about the importance he gives ATSC 3.0, calling the changes it will bring about the biggest since the analog-to-digital conversion and maybe even since the transition from black and white to color.

Take out a few minutes to read Butler’s article. It’s well worth the time.
