While reporting yesterday’s story on newsroom computer developments to expect at the 2016 NAB Show, I learned that Annova Systems will unveil a couple of other news-related products to work in conjunction with its OpenMedia NRCS.
The first is Studio Director, a news control room automation product that automates everything from the placement of lower thirds to the lighting and camera angles.
Rather than being based on the traditional runlist, Studio Director uses templates to remove the complexity of controlling a newscast.
The idea behind the product is to make studio and control room automation a part of the overall storytelling process rather than a highly technical task, says Joe Trainor, business development, Annova.
The other new Annova product for the NAB Show is News Boards, which allow users of the company’s OpenMedia to access the rich data inside the newsroom system, which for instance can help them match the stories of the day against ratings, he says.
The News Boards product is HTML5-based and gives users access to data via widgets and a browser.
