Fresh off its unveiling at this year’s IBC Show in Amsterdam, Ross Video’s new newsroom system Inception now appears to be adding support for content management systems.
Masstech Group announced at the trade show that its Masstech for News media management solution is the first of its kind to integrate with Inception News System. Masstech is also supported on Ross’ competitors in the newsroom system space, including AP ENPS and Avid iNews.
Masstech for News is a media management solution that allows elements of a story, including text, metadata and media, to be transferred as a single package between locations, production servers and even different newsroom systems, aiming to make it easier and faster for journalists to access, retrieve and use news content. The idea to keep the journalist inside of a newsroom system without switching between programs to retrieve content.
“Today, there’s a lot of hoops to jump through to just access content, get it in the right format and move it somewhere,” a Masstech company spokesman said. “Masstech gives a true drag and drop atmosphere between any newsroom system.”
Ross Video, a company that’s probably best known for its production switchers and OverDrive automation solution, says it was a logical solution to add a newsroom system to their growing product portfolio.
“We make everything from graphics to switchers, and we needed something to hold it together with all of that gear,” David Ross, Ross Video CEO, said at the company’s press event at IBC Friday. “We know a lot about news and people have been asking us to create a newsroom system. Inception integrates perfectly with all of our products.”
