A new social media app is now available for AccuWeather’s StoryTeller touchscreen software that allows broadcasters to show viewer-generated content from social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
The premium, subscription-based app imports social commentary from the various networks and allows newsroom personnel to aggregate user-postings, pre-screen content for on-air appropriateness and organize postings to enhance story flow. As shown in the demonstration video below, on-air talent can scroll through posts, just as they would on an iPad or iPhone.
“No longer do stories and events need to be treated as a one-way form of communication,” says Ryan Ayres, VP AccuWeather Display Systems and Services division. “We’ve made it easy and flexible for broadcasters to bring their audience into the story, virtually on the fly, so there’s a real sense of immediacy and relevance.”
The Social Media app is one of many in StoryTeller’s app library, including those for real-time traffic and weather, and ones designed to show election polling and timelines.
