Ethiopian government-owned Amhara TV is going HD and is using Grass Valley equipment to deliver their broadcasts to 50 million television viewers.
Grass Valley equipment is being used to outfit two HD studios and a master control room, including:
- Six HD LDK 3000+ cameras
- Kayak HD video production switcher
- Grass Valley Maestro SD/HD branding and master control
- Concert Series routing switcher with Prelude router control
- GeckoFlex Signal Processing System
A majority of Ethiopia’s television viewers still use standard definition televisions, but they will be able to benefit from the oversampling of HD-to-SD down conversion for improved picture quality over SD-originated programming.
