Dejero Labs will announce next week a big buy from KPIX San Francisco.
The CBS owned and operated station purchased the Dejero LIVE+ VSET for its entire 22 truck fleet.
The LIVE+ VSET uses a hybrid-transmission technology, pulling on cellular, satellite and microwave bandwidth. KPIX purchased a variety of configurations — about half with cellular and Ethernet and some with cellular, Ethernet and ASI for microwave.
The box uses adaptive bitrate technology, which means a crew could go live using cellular bandwidth while driving to the scene of the story, activate their satellite when they arrive, and the multiple sources of bandwidth work simultaneously to provide the best possible HD or SD transmission.
The LIVE+ VSET ranges from $9,000 for an Ethernet-only version that could be plugged into a KA-band satellite, to $18,000 for cellular, satellite and Ethernet.
